about
The riff in the intro is a drop D guitar tuning thing I came up with years ago. Always thought it kindasorta had a Nick Lowe/Dave Edmunds/Rockpile-esque hook to it and I kept kicking that around for a long time. One day I was mucking about with it and came up with the "Oh No Uh Oh" idea and channeling that "whoops, Oh No Uh Oh, what did I do" feeling.
I had a few pages in the back of a lyric notebook where I'd been collecting an assortment of well worn cliché's for several years. Some spontaneous inspiration and a short time later it all came together. After I presented it to band, Guy our bass player suggested we name it "Cliché" but I thought naw, we already have a song titled "First Glance" in which the words first glance aren't prominently featured in the lyrics. Besides, "Oh No Uh Oh" is rather fun to say now isn't it?!? So say it with me, "Oh No Uh Oh, Uh Oh Oh No" again! Rinse, lather, repeat.

lyrics
Oh No Uh Oh
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Never say never, no not ever again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
If I knew now what I knew then, when all is said and done
In for penny in for a pound, it’s never too late to learn
Plead the fifth but get the third degree
Actions speak louder than words
Hello, look who's at it again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Never say never, no not ever again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Measure twice but cut once, make it meet in the end
Missed by a mile, more than meets the eye, it shouldn't have to be so hard
Thinking out loud in a crowded room, just annoys the crowd
Oh, Right back where I belong
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Never say never, no not ever again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Uh oh
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
Never say never, no not ever again
Oh no, uh oh uh oh, oh no again
